Rapid interactive prototyping crunches development timelines and costs

Wyoming Interactive collaborated with Aiber to create an impactful proof-of-concept for revolutionary in-flight medical communication tools, accelerating decision-making and enhancing passenger safety without incurring the early costs of full software development.

The Opportunity

Reducing risk in app development

Aiber wanted to enhance their in-flight medical triage app with new Push-to-Talk and Push-to-Take functionalities. Rather than moving straight into costly full development, we suggested a rapid prototyping approach. This allowed the client to assess the features' value without the financial risk of committing to full-scale development.

The Solution

Rapid prototyping for informed decisions

In just six weeks, we developed interactive prototypes, enabling the client to test the features with users and stakeholders. This approach blended technical expertise with engaging storytelling.

  1. Prototyping for User Context: We created interactive prototypes and storyboards to demonstrate how the new features would function in real-world scenarios. This gave the client valuable user insights without a full app rebuild.
  2. High-Impact Demonstrations: We produced four video demos that showcased the new features across various use cases. These videos provided a clear, compelling narrative that helped stakeholders visualize the impact of the features.

By leveraging rapid prototyping, the client was able to test the new functionalities at a fraction of the cost and make data-driven decisions.

“I'm quite emotional watching [these proof-of-concept videos], it’s something we've had in our heads for so long that we've really wanted to try and bring to life, and you've done that… that's amazing”
The Results

Rapid and responsible partnership

In six weeks, we delivered a complete proof-of-concept and demo videos, enabling the client to:

  • Test new features with real users before committing to development
  • Engage stakeholders with impactful presentations
  • Avoid unnecessary costs by validating functionalities first

Our rapid prototyping approach reduced the client risk and provided an opportunity to properly evaluate the cost:benefit potential of the proposed new functionalities - ahead of committing to significant reengineering costs.

“They say a picture speaks 1000 words, but in my view a video is even better, and I wish we had these kind of videos from the get go”
